How It Works

How Face Data Collection Works

Launch a face data task yourself and receive consent-based selfies and videos from real contributors, without long negotiations.

01 · Create

Describe what contributors should capture

Explain the angles, expressions, lighting and format you need. State clearly how the images will be used and add examples of a good result.

  • Angles, expressions or videos
  • Purpose explained in the task
  • Example images for reference

02 · Target

Choose countries and volume

Select the countries your contributors should come from and how many submissions you need. A wide spread of countries helps you build a balanced dataset.

  • Any number of countries in one task
  • Several files per submission
  • You set the total volume

03 · Capture

Contributors take selfies of themselves

Your task becomes available to adult workers in the selected countries. They read the task purpose, agree to take part and capture only their own face.

  • Own face only, no one else
  • Different phones and cameras
  • New person in every submission

04 · Review

Approve only the submissions that fit

Check every submission, approve the images that meet your requirements and reject the rest. Keep your dataset clean from the start.

  • Review every file
  • Approve or reject each submission
  • Clean data for training
Face Data Types

Types of Face Data You Can Collect

Set up a task for the exact face images your model needs. Contributors follow your instructions and capture themselves on their own phones.

Multi-Angle Selfies

One face, several angles

Contributors take a set of selfies facing forward, left, right, up and down. Used to train face recognition that works from any angle.

  • Set of angles you define
  • Several photos per person
  • Consistent framing rules

Expressions

Smiles, frowns and everything in between

Workers capture a neutral face and the expressions you list, such as smiling, surprised or thoughtful. Useful for expression analysis and avatar animation.

  • Your own list of expressions
  • Neutral reference photo
  • Natural, not exaggerated

Liveness Videos

Short videos for liveness detection

Contributors record a few seconds of turning their head, blinking or following simple instructions. Train systems that check a real person is in front of the camera.

  • Head turns and blinks
  • A few seconds per clip
  • Front camera of real phones

Lighting and Conditions

Faces in real-world light

Get selfies in daylight, low light, backlight and indoor lamps. Help your model recognize people where they actually use their phones.

  • Daylight and low light
  • Indoor and outdoor
  • Different phone cameras

Accessories

Glasses, hats, masks and more

Contributors take the same selfie with and without glasses, hats, masks or headphones. Make your model reliable when part of the face is covered.

  • With and without accessories
  • Partial face coverage
  • Same person, same angle

Diversity

A balanced mix of adult faces

Collect faces of adults of different ages, genders and backgrounds from many countries. Reduce bias and test how fair your model is across groups.

  • Adults 18+ across age groups
  • Many countries in one task
  • Balanced dataset by design

Task Example

Face Images With Details
in One Task

Ask contributors to add the details you need next to their photos, such as the angle or lighting. You get images with context, ready for labeling or training.

Your setup

What you set up

Task settings

Choose Image or Video collection, set how many files each worker sends and write instructions with angles, conditions and the purpose of the data.

  • Image or video collection
  • Number of files per submission
  • Purpose and consent in instructions

What you receive

Submission

Each submission arrives with the worker's photos or videos and the details you asked for, ready to review and approve.

  • Files and details in one submission
  • Worker country on every submission
  • Approve or reject each set
Targeting

Target the Right Contributors

Choose where your contributors come from and tell them exactly what to capture. Every submission comes from a different adult.

Countries and regions

Accept workers from all countries or pick specific ones by continent or individually. Build a dataset that reflects your real users.

Contributor requirements

Describe who should take part in your instructions, such as age group or wearing glasses. All contributors must be adults. Reject submissions that do not match.

Example images

Upload reference images that show the angle, framing and quality you expect, so contributors get it right the first time.

One person, one submission

Each worker can complete your task only once. Set the number of submissions you need and get faces of that many different people.

Quality Control

Quality Control You Stay in Charge Of

You decide what counts as a good submission and review every file before it joins your dataset.

Clear instructions

Describe angles, lighting, background and what must not appear, such as other people or documents.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Face data collection is gathering selfies and short face videos from people who agree to take part, to train and test face recognition, liveness detection and other computer vision models.

Every task must explain what contributors will capture and how the data will be used. Workers read this before accepting, and only those who agree take part. We recommend stating the purpose clearly and in plain words.

Only adults aged 18 or older, and only with their own face. Submissions that show children or other people must be rejected.

You set the pay for each task, starting from $0.10, plus a 15% platform fee. Sets of several photos or videos usually need a higher pay rate. A campaign starts from $0.30.

You decide. Set the number of files per submission, for example five selfies from different angles. Each worker can complete your task only once.

Yes. Choose video collection for liveness clips or short face videos, and describe the length and movements in your instructions.

You can accept workers from all countries or choose specific continents and countries when you create the task.

Select a wide range of countries and describe the mix of age groups and other attributes you need in your instructions. Review submissions and extend the task until the balance is right.

Yes. Face images are personal data, and you are responsible for following the laws that apply to your project. Plan how you will store and use the data before you launch the task.
